  • Introduction to the Four Roles: Pathfinding, Aligning, Empowering, Modeling
  • Self-assessment: Identifying personal strengths and development needs across the roles
  • The importance of situational leadership and role flexibility

 

DAY 2

Role 1: Pathfinding (Vision and Strategy)

  • Techniques for long-term vision creation and strategic thinking
  • Communicating the "Why" and the "Where To" with clarity
  • Analyzing the external environment (PESTEL, SWOT) to inform direction
  • Translating the strategic vision into an operational roadmap

 

DAY 3

Role 2: Aligning (Structure and Systems)

  • Designing organizational structures and systems that support the strategy
  • Resource allocation and negotiating commitments across functions
  • The role of effective communication and information flow (vertical and horizontal)
  • Utilizing KPIs and performance metrics to drive alignment

 

DAY 4

Role 3: Empowering (Autonomy and Growth) & Role 4: Modeling (Integrity and Trust)

  • Techniques for effective delegation and fostering team ownership
  • Coaching and mentoring to build capacity and autonomy
  • Modeling: The integrity component: Leading by example and living the values
  • Building a culture of trust and psychological safety

Synthesis and Application

  • Case studies: Leaders successfully flexing between the four roles
  • Scenario analysis: Diagnosing problems and determining the required role intervention
  • Developing a personal leadership action plan
